EMILY BAHNSEN:
SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELING & SCHOOL COUNSELING PORTFOLIO
M.Ed. School Counseling & School Adjustment Counseling (K -12)
The following are examples of lessons that I have taught and developed for the elementary level (grades 1-4). Lessons are scaled up and down depending on grade.
This is intended as an introduction lesson for a classroom that will be receiving multiple SEL lessons.
From this lesson, student led classroom goals are made from items that the students have identified their class struggling with. This goal is followed up on in future lessons to evaluate if progress is being made.

The following is a psycho-education lesson adapting the "Flip the Lid" Second Step curriculum.
For classrooms utilizing Zones of Regulation, I start each lesson with a "Zone Check In" where students can identify how they feel and share with the class.
