SCHOOL ADJUSTMENT COUNSELING & SCHOOL COUNSELING PORTFOLIO
M.Ed. School Counseling & School Adjustment Counseling (K -12)
Counseling Philosophy
I have found taking a combined counseling approach that utilizes data driven techniques and practices including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Psycho-Education to be highly effective for helping students identify stressors, develop coping techniques and process trauma. When working with younger age groups I also like to utilize play therapy techniques.
In all my work I use the American School Counselor Association mindsets and behaviors to guide my practice as well as looking to others in the field as professional models. One clinician whose work I have modeled my own after is Lynn Lyons, LICSW.
With all my work I highly value collaboration and consultation with parents and school personnel as an important part of the counseling process.

I strive to create an equitable, anti-racist practice where students can seek guidance, grow their social-emotional skills and foster internal motivation to be successful in their current school and with their post-secondary goals.
